Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri dixit is a well-known Indian actress, known for parts in the film Hum Aapke Koun. In the late 80s, she began her acting career, and was famous for her role as Tezaab which she played with the veteran actor Anil Kapooor. Her next appearance was in Dil where she starred alongside Aamir. As a young girl growing up in Mumbai's middle class she began to learn how to dance. She began acting when she was young and fought for several years because most of her initial films were flops. Then she found her feet and went on to become one of the leading actors within the Indian film industry. After her marriage, she took a hiatus in her career. She returned later. Recenty, she had a prominent role as a character in Gulaab Gang. The film was about struggles faced by women across India. Dixit received fifteen Filmfare Awards nominations, of which, eight were awarded. Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award in India is bestowed to Dixit. Her reputation also includes for social activism.
